Giá vàng giảm xuống mức thấp nhất trong hơn 1 tháng vào ngày thứ Năm (03/11), khi đồng USD và lợi suất trái phiếu Mỹ tăng sau những nhận định diều hâu từ Chủ tịch Cục Dự trữ Liên bang Mỹ (Fed) Jerome Powell, làm giảm sức hấp dẫn của kim loại không đem lại lợi suất.

Kết thúc phiên giao dịch ngày thứ Năm, hợp đồng vàng giao ngay lùi 0.2% xuống 1,630.93 USD/oz, sau khi giảm hơn 1% vào đầu phiên, chạm mức thấp nhất kể từ ngày 28/9/2022.

Hợp đồng vàng tương lai mất 1.2% còn 1,630.9 USD/oz.

Fed đã nâng lãi suất thêm 75 điểm cơ bản vào ngày thứ Tư (02/11) như kỳ vọng. Ông Powell cho biết còn “rất sớm” để nghĩ về việc tạm ngừng và mức đỉnh lãi suất có thể sẽ cao hơn dự báo trước đây.

Vàng rất nhạy cảm với đà tăng lãi suất Mỹ vì làm tăng chi phí cơ hội cho việc nắm giữ kim loại không đem lại lợi suất.

Đồng USD tiến 1.4%, làm vàng trở nên đắt đỏ hơn đối với những người mua nước ngoài. Lợi suất trái phiếu Chính phủ Mỹ kỳ hạn 10 năm tiến sát mức đỉnh gần đây.

Michael Hewson, Giám đốc phân tích thị trường tại CMC (HM:CMG) Markets UK, nhận định: “Có khả năng vàng có thể phá vỡ mức 1,600 USD/oz nếu lợi suất tiếp tục tăng”.

Bây giờ, sự tập trung chuyển sang dữ liệu việc làm tháng 10 của Mỹ công bố vào ngày thứ Sáu (04/11), điều này có thể cung cấp rõ ràng hơn về lộ trình nâng lãi suất của Fed.

Góp phần hỗ trợ phần nào cho vàng, dữ liệu cho thấy ngành dịch vụ của Mỹ tăng trưởng với tốc độ chậm nhất trong gần 2 năm rưỡi vào tháng 10, cho thấy việc nâng lãi suất của Fed đang làm chậm nhu cầu trong nên kinh tế nói chung.
