Giá vàng giảm hơn 1% vào ngày thứ Sáu (14/10) và ghi nhận tuần tồi tệ nhất từ giữa tháng 8/2022, chịu áp lực bởi đồng USD mạnh hơn và những lo ngại Cục Dự trữ Liên bang Mỹ (Fed) sẽ tiếp tục nâng lãi suất mạnh để kiềm chế lạm phát.

Kết thúc phiên giao dịch ngày thứ Sáu, hợp đồng vàng giao ngay lùi 1.3% xuống 1,643.90 USD/oz, giảm 2.9% từ đầu tuần đến nay. Hợp đồng vàng tương lai mất 1.6% còn 1,649.50 USD/oz.

Chỉ số đồng USD tăng 0.6%, làm kim loại neo giá theo đồng bạc xanh trở nên đắt đỏ hơn đối với những người mua nước ngoài.

Daniel Ghali, Chiến lược gia hàng hoá tại TD Securities, nhận định: “Giá vàng ngày càng tương quan với diễn biến của đồng USD và có thể giảm xuống mức thấp 1,600 USD/oz”.

Dữ liệu vào ngày thứ Năm (13/10) cho thấy giá tiêu dùng CPI tại Mỹ tăng mạnh hơn dự báo trong tháng 9, củng cố dự báo Fed có thể thực hiện một đợt nâng lãi suất lớn khác, và do đó đã đến tuần giảm mạnh nhất của vàng trong gần 2 tháng.

Vàng rất nhạy cảm với việc nâng lãi suất Mỹ, điều này thúc đẩy lợi suất trái phiếu, làm tăng chi phí cơ hội cho việc nắm giữ kim loại không đem lại lợi suất.

Vàng đã giảm tới 1.8% vào ngày thứ Năm trước khi phục hồi khép phiên mất 0.4%, khi đồng USD suy yếu sau khi tăng vọt ban đầu sau báo cáo lạm phát.

Lợi suất trái phiếu Chính phủ Mỹ kỳ hạn 10 năm được củng cố, qua đó gây áp lực thêm cho vàng.
