"83" Collectibles or NFT Collection to Launch on December 23, 2021

In collaboration with NFT Labs and Social Swag, an engagement platform led by an influencer, the producers of the film - 83 - have agreed to release the movie's Non-fungible token (NFT) exclusively. This is coming after the massive venture of various individuals and multinational companies into the NFT ecosystem. This is coupled with the high-yielding profits which NFTs generate. As such, the makers of the iconic movie plan to launch its digital collectibles or otherwise called NFTs, commencing December 23, 2021.

Some of the NFTs from the movie will consist of cricket relics that have been autographed, some video scenes, selected posters and images, some digital avatars that have been animated. The Polygon blockchain ($MATIC) is the medium through which the "83" collectible was minted.

According to the director of the film, Kabir Khan, in a statement he made to IANS, a news agency, he said that the filmmakers are happy to venture into the NFT ecosystem because it gives them the chance to offer the fans of cricket and Bollywood the privilege to gain from the success of the movie, 83, in an unprecedented way.

The film can be said to be both historic and iconic as it tells the story of how the team that represented India at the 1983 Cricket World Cup defeated the then World Champions, West Indies, by 43 runs, thus reinstating India into the cricket world stage. That was during the 63rd Cricket World Cup. The lead actor in the movie is Ranveer Singh. The director stated that its relatability to Indians and their history serves as a special collection for art collectors.

As regards cryptocurrencies and NFTs, this is not the first time that players in Bollywood would venture into it. Before this time, Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, and others were involved in space. Recently, Bachchan launched NFTs that contained his old posters, which he autographed, Madhushala - a famous poem of his father. As a result, they were both sold at approximately Rs 7.18 crore ($966,000).
