AiVIF.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Utilities, Software and Technology sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 1.69% to hit a new 52-week low, while the MDAX index fell 2.11%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.76%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p), which rose 2.43% or 7.90 points to trade at 333.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) added 2.39% or 1.13 points to end at 48.49 and Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn) was up 1.06% or 1.45 points to 138.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were RWE AG ST O.N. (ETR:RWEG), which fell 5.27% or 1.95 points to trade at 35.08 at the close. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (ETR:VOWG_p) declined 5.24% or 7.04 points to end at 127.42 and E.ON SE (ETR:EONGn) was down 4.30% or 0.36 points to 8.01.

The top performers on the MDAX were Wacker Chemie O.N. (ETR:WCHG) which rose 1.62% to 137.60, Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which was up 1.48% to settle at 35.77 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which gained 0.98% to close at 113.90.

The worst performers were Uniper SE (ETR:UN01) which was down 14.38% to 14.17 in late trade, Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which lost 10.48% to settle at 3.03 and Grand City Properties SA (ETR:GYC) which was down 10.43% to 12.88 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which rose 3.21% to 24.10, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which was up 2.43% to settle at 333.40 and Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) which gained 2.39% to close at 48.49.

The worst performers were Suse SA (ETR:SUSEG) which was down 4.92% to 21.66 in late trade, SAP SE (ETR:SAPG) which lost 3.59% to settle at 86.93 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 3.52% to 23.00 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 535 to 162 and 68 ended unchanged.

Shares in Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (ETR:VOWG_p) fell to 52-week lows; falling 5.24% or 7.04 to 127.42. Shares in E.ON SE (ETR:EONGn) fell to 52-week lows; losing 4.30% or 0.36 to 8.01. Shares in Uniper SE (ETR:UN01) fell to 5-year lows; falling 14.38% or 2.38 to 14.17. Shares in Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) fell to all time lows; falling 10.48% or 0.35 to 3.03. Shares in Grand City Properties SA (ETR:GYC) fell to 5-year lows; falling 10.43% or 1.50 to 12.88. Shares in Suse SA (ETR:SUSEG) fell to all time lows; falling 4.92% or 1.12 to 21.66. Shares in SAP SE (ETR:SAPG) fell to 3-years lows; losing 3.59% or 3.24 to 86.93.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 7.51% to 29.78.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.44% or 7.95 to $1,809.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.93% or 3.22 to hit $106.56 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 2.40% or 2.70 to trade at $109.75 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.39% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.08% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.35% at 104.48.
